SELF-SABOTAGE

SELF-SABOTAGE

SELF-SABOTAGE

An illustration about getting in your own way. And blaming the tree for it.

What started as a little thought about self-sabotage turned into an illustration, then a hands-on screen-printing experiment, and eventually something you can wear or carry around.

Sometimes an idea just needs to get out of your head and into the real world.

SELF-SABOTAGE

THE IDEA

It's me. Hi. I'm the problem.

We've all been there. Everything is going fine, and somehow we manage to get in our own way.

I wanted to turn that very human (and slightly ridiculous) habit into something playful. A little visual joke about self-sabotage, overthinking, and our incredible ability to blame everything but ourselves.

Damn you, tree!

THE PROCESS

From pixels to ink.

I didn't want this illustration to live only on a screen.

So I took it a step further and brought it to life through screen printing. I worked on the printing myself, taking the design from a digital illustration to actual ink on fabric.

There's something really satisfying about making things with your own hands, especially after spending so much time designing on a computer.

WE ALL NEED A LITTLE REMINDER

A little wearable totem to remind us that recognizing our patterns is the first step to breaking them.

I wanted this illustration to become more than just a funny take on self-sabotage. Something you could wear, carry around, and look at whenever you need a little reminder to get out of your own way.

Because recognizing our patterns isn't always easy, and breaking them takes even more courage.

So here's a little reminder to catch yourself in the act, be kinder to yourself, and maybe, just maybe, stop blaming the tree.

THE FINAL PIECES

Made to be worn (and carried).

The illustration eventually found its way onto T-shirts and tote bags.

A fun little reminder not to take ourselves too seriously, even when we're the ones making things unnecessarily complicated.

Designed, illustrated & screen-printed by me.

And yes, I still blame the tree.
